DERMAL

FILLERS

Fillers can be used to soften lines, wrinkles, and grooves of the face but can also be used to build structure and support in the face. Commonly injected areas are the nasolabial folds, marionette lines, cheeks, and lips. Dr. Gerecci also performs specialized injections that require more expertise than the standard treatment areas.  Injections can be performed to help correct lower lid hollowing or “tear trough deformity”, add structure to the chin and contour the jawline, improve the appearance of the nose via “liquid or non-surgical rhinoplasty”, and fill out hollowing of the temples . Multiple products are available, and during your consultation Dr. Gerecci will review which product she thinks is best for you and why.

AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR FILLERS?

Many people have concerns that can benefit from filler placement. Below are some of the reasons people seek filler treatment:

  • Improve the shape or volume of the lips

  • Smooth out fine lines around the lips

  • fill in deep grooves of the nasolabial fold or marionette line

  • increase volume and contour of the cheeks

  • improve volume and contour of the chin and jawline

  • fill in hollowing of the tear trough "eye bag" region

  • fill in hollowing of the upper eyelids, eyebrows, or temple region

  • non-surgical "liquid" rhinoplasty to make changes to the appearance of the nose

WHAT KIND OF FILLERS CAN I GET?

Dr. Gerecci only uses dermal fillers made of hyaluronic acid (HA), which is a natural occurring substance found in our skin, soft tissue, and connective tissues. A benefit of using HA products is that they can be dissolved and reversed.  Fillers Dr. Gerecci may recommend for you:

  • Juvederm® Ultra, Ultra Plus, Voluma, Vollure, or Volbella

  • Restylane® L, Eyelight, Contour, Lyft, Silk, Kysse, Refyne, or Defyne

HOW IS A FILLER TREATMENT PERFORMED?

A typical treatment session is 30-60 minutes and involves injections of the desired treatment area. Dr. Gerecci values patient comfort and utilizes multiple techniques to help minimize discomfort during the treatment session. She makes sure each patient understands what product is being used, what dosage, what treatment areas, expected outcomes,  risks/benefits of treatment, cost, and is given detailed explanations and instructions. A complimentary follow up visit is scheduled 2 weeks after injection to ensure patients are satisfied with their results and any questions or concerns are addressed.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER FILLER TREATMENT

Some patients may experience bruising after their injections. Swelling may also occur and usually peaks around 3 days after injections and resolves within 1 week. Duration of filler effect depends on the type of product used and the amount of product used.

ARE THERE ALTERNATIVES TO FILLER TREATMENT?

An alternative to filler would be using your own fat, for facial fat grafting/transfer. For a more permanent result, facial implants may be considered. Sometimes neuromodulators can be used to give a desired effect. In some situations, a surgical procedure is recommended depending on your goals and concerns.
